By the fourth or fifth hit I had fully understood the unusual name: ‘Jellyfish Cavendish’
18”x25” Woodcut - hand printed.
The transformation of smoke into jellyfish is an idea I’ve had for a few years now. The title for this piece comes from nothing in particular, I just like the idea of someone buying a different kind of pipe tobacco and getting drugged up unknowingly. It seems like this is the start of a very long trip which is always terrifying and exciting at the same time.
The reason I hand-printed this one is because I wanted to keep the background gray and hazy while the figure is bold and black, an affect I achieved by using a drawer knob to really push down on the areas I wanted black.
